#1 - all day long...and a good chunk of the night.

Professional sports production (and getting into a little game development work).

I guess i'll list myself as mostly #4 with some #2. I use Vegas often at $dayjob for training videos, QC problem/customer return documentation, product demonstrations, etc. Occasionally the bosses will approach me with something that needs to be edited, but it's usually their home stuff so that probably doesn't qualify as "industrial". ;)

On the audio side, i've been recording local performances for hobby and for pay for over 37 years now (and yes, if you do the math on that one you'll find out i started as a very very wee tot!). I've also produced an enormous amount of sound effects and accompaniment tracks for local theatre, churches, and dance schools. Of course, Vegas and Sound Forge have only been part of this for the last few years.

#1 - pro audio (music recording/mixing/mastering) since 1968 but a relative newbie to video (but learning fast) doing a lot of editing and DVD creation for clients for resale over the last 2 years and more recently shooting events as well. Having a ball :)

Full time for any broadcast, industrials, marketing, DVD for 500 + distribution.
-- regularly master our stuff for 5000 + duplication. Client gives out the DVDs to
commemorate project Safety Milestones
2 . Part time for any of the above listed + wedding & photo montages.
-- 3 - 10 news stories a week either shot/ edited or shot and rough footage sent via T1.
3. Full time for wedding videos.
-- not with DSR 570s, no one is willing to pay market rate.
4. Part time or sporadic paid work – or hobby video.
-- part time would be DVD duplication. I don't like video enough anymore for it to be a hobby. Still photography is far more gratifying, I find.

Wife (owner of swpvideo.com) has MSc DOP and MA Film Film Director and 26 years experience. She prefers Premiere Pro or AVID Xpress Pro. I've been in the video biz since 1980 and spend about 40% of my time at my day job in Audio/Video related activities; balance is used to design and write Computer-based training programs or do Safety Officer stuff.

Reason for the poll?
Think there are many who would read this message and pass.
They participate to learn as much as they can about Vegas.
And to pass along that aquired knowledge to others.
I've been on the receiving end of a lot of that generously shared knowledge in this community.
Whether participants use it as a tool for home videos or as a tool to make hundreds of thousands a year is incidental IMHO..
There are many on both ends of the spectrum in this community,---equally skilled in the use of the tool.
Some who make their living with it, others value it as their diversion or hobby. Still others use it for a bit of both.
FYI,-- I am in pigeon hole #1 and fighting to stay there.
One of the reasons I'm still there is because a lot of # 1. 2, 3 and 4 folks gratiously listen and respond to questions,---though they sometimes must roll their eyes.
Well, that's the long answer.
