Vegas pre-render is VERY buggy

I posted this before but I'm posting it again because I get really upset when either people or companies waste my time, in this case Sony for not fixing an obvious bug that I imagine pretty much everybody must have.

Many times I pre-render footage and Vegas will pretend it's doing it, showing the progress dialog, but when it finishes, there are no blue lines over the footage and certainly it doesn't play like it's been pre-rendered. Even more annoying it is that the menu command "Clean up prerendered video" does absolutely nothing, since when I choose it I select "Delete all prerender video files", but when I go to my designated Pre-render folder, all the files are still there!

So I have to delete all the files in the pre-render folder, and only then, I do a pre-render and it works. But of course by then I've lost a lot of time doing a lengthy pre-render for nothing.

When I'm so frustrated by this it's not hard to see why some professional editors consider Vegas a toy. This is a serious bug, and Sony Creative has to get off their butts and fix this!

You may be better off using nested projects in your workflow.

What do nested projects have to do with this bug? Pre-render has to work the way it's supposed to.

Try creating a new Temporary files folder under Options>Preferences>General.

We need a true method of Pre-Rendering and Saving the Pre-Renders.
RAM Preview is good for a short Preview & Pre-Render is only good for that session. After I shut down my computer, move a clip, or restart a project my Pre-Renders are gone.

-Sounds minuscule, but it's not. When you have to do it over & over & over, again & again it gets really frustrating.

I wouldn't mind having a Scratch disk setup just for my Pre-Renders same as I do in FCP, Premiere, & Avid... none of which deletes my Pre-Renders until I tell it to do so.

From what I see, I don't know if I would call it Buggy or Poor Implementation. Whatever we call it... I agree, it needs to be fixed.
