vegas pro 10 linking to wrong clips

can anyone help? i recently reviewed all of my completed scenes, saved to an external hard drive, as i was ready to link them together. it's coming up a montage of every scene i've done and the "loading dock" has different images, with different names now. example- sleepover scene now includes every scene, however the clips are all labeled "party scene". and some of the footage at the bottom is bright green. tech support has only answered one question since june so i'm not optimistic about hearing from them, much less having them fix it. i've read about this problem, but i have them saved on the external drive! can anyone help me save 6 months of work? i noticed that if they open right away they seem fine, not completed, but fine. if it searches for missing files, it's a mess.

Fixed in Version 11.

Not broken yet in version 9. Until some of these major bugs get worked out, Sony should really have a policy of letting new buyers download older bug free versions.

Instructions for dealing with "replaced clips" bug:

EDIT: In advance of steps 1 to 15, Gary James' Timeline Tools can be used to identify affected clips. From the extension's "Track Event Info" tab, select a video track, then in the "Media Type filter" drop-down list choose "Show mis named Takes & Media".

1. Have only one instance of Vegas Pro running.
2. Save a backup copy of your corrupted project.
3. In a new project, create and render an item of dummy media for each piece of affected media. They should be longer than the affected media (not entirely sure this is necessary though). You can use Media Generators to do this but remember to render an audio stream as well as video if your affected media contains audio. Name each media the same as the original media but with a suffix. e.g. clip01-DUMMY.avi
4. Open the corrupted project.
5. In the Project Media window, replace the affected media (right click on the media > "Replace...") with the dummies.
6. Remove all unusued media from project (lighning bolt icon).
7. Save
8. Close Vegas
9. Reboot computer (just in case)
10. Start Vegas
11. Open affected project
12. In the Project Media window, replace the dummy media (right click > "Replace...") with the originals.
13. Remove all unusued media from project (lighning bolt icon).
14. Save
15. Restart Vegas

Quite.

I'm "doing" paid work only in VP10e, and that is flaky. Nested Projects are becoming whimsical, to say the least.

Steve, do you say that based on personal experience or based on John Cline's post?

"Not broken yet in version 9"

It has broken a few times for me in version 9c. Fortunately the last time it happened I had already made a good render and hence DVD before the corruption showed up (on the next reload of the project).
