Prior to installing update 10c I was operating aok under MS7. After installing 10c video preview during editing got choppy / noisy, and audio stuttered continuously. Tried various restarts, preview quality changes but preview only got progressively worse. Did all possible computer hardware checks aok (memory, disk performance testing, etc.). Then found out that 10's veg files are not backwards compatible to version 9e! In despiration tried running 10c in MS7 compatability mode (XPSP2) and 10c now works fine. Any experiences out there?

As best I recall, newer versions of Vegas veg files are never compatible with previous versions, although there are workarounds and ways to go back. But, basically, once you open and save them in the new version, you can't easily go back to an older version;

Kent is correct. Once a veggie is saved in a newer version of Vegas, those files cannot be used in an older version.

No problem. Load the most recent back-up .veg file in 9.0.

Of course, if there's no back-up, the file wasn't important. No problem.
