One of the nice things about Vegas Pro is the ability to create custom templates.

Some, not all, render dialog boxes allow you to enter a custom pixel dimension. Just type it in.

Example:

Render As: Mainconcept AVC/AAC (*.mp4, *.aac)

Internet 480p widescreen

Customize Template

Frame Size: Select Custom Frame Size in the drop down box

Enter Width: 480 Height: 270

Render

You can save as a custom template for use later.

What codec are you trying to render to?

The MainConcept AVC ( .mp4 ) has a 320x240 and a 640x480 option. Even though it says ipod, the use will not be restricted to that hardware..

I see this in version 12, but I suspect it is there in 11 also...

When you go to the Render options, make sure you have unchecked 'match project settings".

Make sure the dialog box is big enough to show all the options.

A picture is worth 10,000 of my words.

Good. Customized templates are a powerful way to give your friends and clients what they want, whether they know what they want or not.

My granddaughter had a device that required 480x270 pixel dimension video in an .avi wrapper using an MJPEG video codec and PCM audio. I was able to render some of her family treasures for her to have with her. Those devices and their requirements come and go, but the concept of taking a known render template and customizing it to meet the current requirement is invaluable.
