Vegas Pro 13 Timeline Limit - User Error or Bug?

In this thread MikeLV said:

"I tried to add the one second to the loop region after the end of the timeline, however, I can't drag the right side of the loop region past the end. Is there an option I need to enable or disable somewhere? It wasn't snapping, or quantize to frames. Anyone else run into this?"

... to which I responded with a workaround.

"I have run into this recently. When I drop the first media on the timeline you can't extend past the end of the last media.

Don't have time to analyze, but here's a workaround.

Strike Control + End

Insert Generated Media Solid Color at the end of one of the video tracks.

Delete the Generated Media.

You should be able to move past the end of the last media, now."

Can others verify that the end of the timeline appears at times to be limited to the length of the existing media?

If this is bug in Vegas Pro 13, we need to submit a bug report soon.

Absolutely confirmed.

I've always assumed that, in a sense, the timeline doesn't exist past the last event. Your workaround seems to confirm this. By adding the generated media after the last event you have extended the timeline to the length of the generated media. Delete the generated media and the timeline retains the new length.

I don't see this as a bug, just the logic of the application, although perhaps you're seeing something here that I'm missing.

I see this more as a function of Vegas.

Just drag what ever event is on the timeline and drag it to the right as far as you want the timeline tot be. Vegas increases the timeline length accordingly.

Every time you restart Vegas, it adjust the timeline according to the media length on its timeline. Especially decreasing the length of the timeline only happens after you restart Vegas.

I find this very handy, after that I have finished the project. I remove all unnecessary events which are after the project on the timeline.

After restart Vegas then trimmes the timeline till the end ot the project.
This keeps the timeline compact, neat and tidy.
