[Vegas Pro 14] "An online connection could not be established."

Can't activate my license after installing. Starting Vegas puts me at the screen to fill in Serial number and Email address, but when I press "Activate & register immediately online" a loading circle pops up, does nothing for a bit and then I get the message

"An online connection could not be established. Please make sure your computer is correctly connected to the Internet. A firewall may also be blocking access."

Obviously I'm online, and I feel like I've tried everything. Disabled the firewall, made exceptions for every .exe related to Vegas... This is incredibly frustrating as I really needed to do some time sensitive work right now. 😟

This is the Vegas Pro 14 Edit version from Humble Bundle a while back, and it did work just fine then but I've had to reinstall.
(Also, I'm currently trying the "full" installer - the ~4mb installers don't install at all, presumably they fail to download the rest from whatever servers they're looking for.)

Did you try to start Vegas "as adm"? (rightclick startpictogram)

Which Browser are you using ( or it tries to use ).. IE 11  is not so happy with many things on Win 10

Chrome, but to be clear this is a prompt within Vegas, not on the Magix site (I can log in and see my license there, it's just not connected to an installation).
