Vegas Pro 14 build 201 extremely slow renders

paul-priestley wrote on 12/3/2016, 11:43 AM

I am rendering a video that has made much use of the Newbluefx plugins supplied with Vegas Pro 14, namely Chroma Key and Saturation EQ. The lenght of the video is 35 minutes. I have ensured settings are the same as i used in Pro 13, including setting rendering to CPU only. It currently has taken 2 hours and 21 minutes to reach 6% of the render and its telling me it will complete in 16 hours and 23 minutes. This is ridiculous, I have a life to lead. My kit is I7 4770 cpu, 24gb ram and gtx 750ti gpu using windows 10 including anniversay update. Previous renders with Pro 13 usually took around twice to three times the lenght of the video, now we are talking around 30 times. Magix can we PLEASE have this issue addressed in the next update? Meanwhile, anyone know of any way i can reduce the render times. Thanks Paul

Even for a video that is 35 minutes, it shouldn't take 16 hours. Should be 5 hours at max. What is your render settings?

I'm using Sony AVC Internet 1920 x1080 30p with no amendments to the template. This is what I usually use with Pro 13. I actually abandoned the render on 67% after 18 hours. Most of the initial editing was done in Pro 13, I think I should have stuck with that. I want the video to eventually be available for download and streaming. Any advice would be appreciated.

What happens if you uncheck the newblue effects?   These render times indicate something is wrong  - it is clearly not normal - so you need to do some testing to try to isolate what element is holding things up.

I think the problem is with the newbluefx plugins. For some reason in Pro 14 the newbluefx plugins are duplicated but slightly different for example; Newblue V6 Chroma Key Pro and Newblue V6 Chroma Key Pro - Open FX. The Chroma Key Pro version when open in the window states Newblue V6 Chroma Key Pro: DXT, 32-bit floating point. The Newblue V6 Chroma Key Pro - Open FX version states Newblue V6 Chroma Key Pro: DXT, 32-bit floating point, Grouping New Blue video essentials VI for windows, version 1. I guess this may have something to do with the problem, but which one ones should be in Vegas Pro 14, the Open FX version or the none OPen FX version? Are one set a hang over from Pro 13? Advice would be welcome.

I have something identical with the Pro Titler 1 from NewBlue.
Installed as OFX plugin it sometimes freezes Vegas Pro 14 but mostly crashes the program only by clicking on that titler in MediaGenerator.
Installed the non OFX version its starts very slow but does not crash the program.
Therefore in Vegas Pro 14 I don't use older New Blue versions and now I'm a happy editor.

I'm going to try redoing the chroma keying with the non OFx version and I'll see if that has any effect.

Just curious, is there something wrong with Vegas own Chroma Keying?

paul-priestley wrote on 12/5/2016, 6:16 AM

I don't think it is anywhere near as flexible or as good at keying out

I have Pro 13 and Pro 14 installed on the same machine. I bought NewBlueFX Transitions Inspire and installed it with no problem. But there is no sign of it in Pro 14, but it does show up in Pro 13. There was no option given when it installed. It has installed in Common Files/ofx/plugins/newbluefx/transitions.ofx.bundles I suspect this is the wrong folder, anyone know which folder I need to move this to? Should I uninstall pro 13? Thanks

Program Files/Common Files/OFX/plugins is the correct place for OpenFX plug-in installation.

So why don't they appear in Pro 14? I'm at a loss.

Interesting development on the very slow rendering issue in Vegas Pro14. I cleared the cache and then went through my film and adjusted something minor in each clip so Pro 14 re-rendered it. What a difference. Before the film (35 minutes long) was a mixture of Pro 14 and Pro 13 edits and the render was abandoned after it reached 74% after 21 hours rendering. After the above changes the render took 7 hours and 21 minutes and its perfect. Really pleased with the result. However, still can't see the Transitions I bought from NewblueFX in Pro 14, despite them installing in the right directories. Any ideas would be welcome because there are non, as yet, from NewBlueFX.
