Vegas Pro 14 External Monitor In Windows 7 64bit

JJKizak wrote on 12/21/2016, 7:02 PM

My Windows 7 64 bit Pro has a huge problem getting Windows updates. Vegas Pro 12 opens the external monitor just fine but 14 201 and 211 do not. Which Windows updates to I need for Vegas 14 to open the external monitor? I jammed in a few updates (.net 4) but I am missing about 240 others. Any suggestions would be acceptable other than going to Windows 10.

Did you try clicking on the link listed in the first message of this thread? That downloads just a small file, but when you click on that (after it is fully downloaded, of course), it seems to figure out what prerequisites you need to get for v. 14 and downloads them and installs them for you (after your approval). This may take some time, but should do it all without you needing to switch to Windows 10.

N.B. At least, it did that for me, though I didn’t need that many prerequisites (my laptop came with Windows 10, which I fully expected to hate, but I actually ended up liking it, believe it or not).

I didn't have the problem with the external monitor but I had an issue with NB installing and it was resolved by installing two updates from windows 7. Prior to these updates I was not able to install any updates for windows 7 since they released the paid win10.

I assume you have to go through win update to get these files since I wasn't able to upload them here. I had to disable automatic updates before being able to get these files.

Do you still have links for them by any chance?

I had to do it in several steps to get the results. Here is what I wrote back to NB Support:

Another one of the Microsoft gotcha's!  I don't use IE so the fix did not work with the Chrome browser even though I was able to download the file. After searching through numerous help files concerning "Windows Update" I finally found a solution for the file to load on my computer.

I had to also load the following files from Microsoft Catalog Updates using Internet Explorer:

KB3172605

KB3020369

After these two files were installed, I was able to use the link you provided through IE, it loaded, and everything worked after that!

Go to the following link, you have to use Internet Explorer or the download will not work. Type in or paste the above numbers in the space provided and you can upload them one at a time. I think the first one I already had so when you go through the installation it will tell you if it's already installed

Link NB Gave me. Might not need the following unless your have a problem with NB Complete.

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2999226

Good luck, I hope this solves your issue.

Excellent, Tom! I, too, hope it solves his issue.

Thanks, I will check to see what updates I have.

Well I installed about 7 updates to fix the updates. The one that worked was KB3172605 and I updated 228 updates 6.5 hours later. Update number 183 had some glitches but somehow got fixed later on by magic or something. Vegas Pro 14 external monitor now functions properly. The scynhost.exe windows file now shows zero CPU usage as the others. Everything working just fine.

This is the final solution.

Glad to see you got it to work. Windows can be a pain sometimes.
