Vegas Pro 15 Edit installer abruptly closes after extracting files

When I launch the installer for Vegas Pro 15 Edit, I provide admin permissions and it begins to extract the files for installation but then it closes and the installation manager process ends with no error codes. Here's a gif of what happens: https://gyazo.com/c1bea3a16088dcfb614f232990766514

I purchased Vegas Pro 15 Edit from the Humble Bundle that was recently released. I tried both the installer from the humble bundle and the installer provided directly from MAGIX.

It's probably important to note that I also had Vegas Pro 14 installed, but I've uninstalled it to make way for Vegas Pro 15 Edit.

Specs: i5 8600k, GTX 1080 Ti, 16 gb ram

 

P.S. I've already restarted my PC and tried disabling my firewall. Neither helped.

same exact issue, with the humble bundle. i've never had any vegas editing software prior to this and needless to say i'm fairly disappointed their installer doesn't even work. embarrassing

Damn. I've never had this issue with MAGIX software in the past... I went through my registry with regedit and removed any reference to Vegas Pro but still no dice, unfortunately. The installer just won't work. Maybe something is overloaded on their end? I know the installer has to download files, but doesn't that happen only after the installer brings up that page...? I don't know, but it sucks.

I finally got it working! Removing all references to VEGAS Pro 14 in the registry and then restarting my PC finally fixed the installer issue for me.

You can go here to find the locations of all of the registry keys you should delete. Be sure to make a backup in case you mess something up!
