Vegas Pro 15 not utilising CPU or GPU too well during render

Alonzorion wrote on 12/21/2018, 12:26 AM

Overall it'll seem to use about 30% of my i7 8 core 4GHz 6700K CPU and only 25% of my Nvidia GTX 980Ti GPU as the photo displays below.

Vegas Pro 14 seemed to have the exact same problem so I figured I'd ask if it's possible to make it use more of both as video rendering is terribly slow! Thanks for any responses provided.

Which codec and template are you using?
Pro 15 has more and better templates to use your NVidia GPU, unless you are using the latest drivers for it.

I'm using a custom Magix AVC template! I used to use Sony AVC. Hope this helps!

I last updated my drivers just under a month ago.

Which driverversion exactly?

When I render with that template my rendertime without added effects is less than 0,5x realtime.
When I render without GPU with your template (no NVENC option selected)like this

my rendertime doubles to realtime.
To to me it looks on my desktiop that rendering with GPU is 2 times faster than without GPU with the same template that has very low bitrates.

417.35 as I updated! Unfortunately there seems to be no improvement at all.

I tried using the same template as above, it was a lot faster but still x1.5 realtime (before it was closer to x2), however my CPU has increased to 60% and GPU utilisation is still really low at 20% (lower than before) for some reason.

There must be something wrong with your hardware.
I tested it again with that same template with and without the NVENC option of my GTX 1050 on laptop with specs in signature, all uptodate. Look here rendering the same short (5 sec) footage.

Well I thought it might have something to do with the settings why it wasn't utilising my CPU and GPU correctly, but I couldn't find anything related to that. :)
