Vegas Pro 15 slows down

wilri001 wrote on 9/10/2017, 9:49 AM

I love version 15 except it slows down after 15-30 minutes of editing. Pan/crop tool takes 5 seconds to open, and refresh rate is about 1 second while moving the crop window around. Also, when repositioning on the timeline, takes 2-3 seconds to start playing back. Restart and all is fine - for a while.

This is with AVCHD HD1080 and MP4 4k files in multicam mode on AMD 8350 and Nvidia 750ti, (with or without GPU selected), 8GB RAM.

I opened support ticket just now, but interested if anyone else is seeing this.

Did you try and disable the so4compoundplug.dll?

OldSmoke, yes, I disabled it, but it didn't make a difference, so it's re-enabled and working fine for my video formats of AVCHD and MP4.

I since noticed an option for not saving FX undo, but turning it off didn't help.

Is no one else seeing this?

Vegas Pro 15 is looping on one thread (of the 8 threads on AMD 8350) with nothing going on in multicam edit mode:

That last column is disk activity. That could explain why response time is so slow.

Anyone know how to drill down into what exactly it's doing?

I previously mentioned this issue.

wilri001 wrote on 9/12/2017, 8:51 AM

I just discovered it starts as soon as the video begins to play. BUT... it doesn't happen when GPU is set to none. This is with Nvidia 750ti with latest driver.

OldSmoke wrote on 9/13/2017, 7:56 AM

There are users that have other issues with the latest drivers. Try driver 381.89 and see if that helps.

OldSmoke: I went back to that driver, but the same thing happens. Also, the new Nvidia encoding is not available on the old driver.

wilri001 wrote on 9/19/2017, 10:48 PM

Cornico: Sorry. I went back too far to 368.69. Yes, 381.89 has the new render for Nvidia. However, it doesn't help the slow down. Now, I have no problem with preview frame rate. The problem is making several pan/crop tool adjustments. At first, the tool window opens quickly, and refresh rate showing moving the crop window around is great. After 10 or so events, it takes 5 seconds to open, and about 1 second to show where you moved the crop window to. So, I have to restart Vegas.

@wilri001I'm seeing the exact same problems you have. The whole Vegas Pro 15 interface slows down and is sluggish after a while of editing. I end up having to restart the program every 15 minutes or so. Have you found a solution yet?

No. I’m editing on version 13, and then rendering on 15, because it’s faster.

Hah, I'm doing the same, but with Vegas Pro 14.

The issues you guys are having is the same that I'm having with Pro 14. It just makes my whole computer run really slow as if it's taken all the ram
