Vegas Pro 15 won't render

I rendered out an MPG2 file, using render loop section, through my network yesterday using Vegas Pro Build 177. It rendered successfully. I then went to render a second file and I got an error:

"An error occurred while creating the media file.

An invalid argument was specified"

I have rebooted the computer, tried old projects that worked, even new projects give me that error when I select File/Render As

I submitted a support request as per specified and got no email reply even though the page said "Thank you for your request, we will answer as soon as possible."

It has been 24hrs since the request was made. No response and no response via email that they even received the request.

Vegas Pro 15 is now dead in the water for me. I think I may try re-installing given the slow tech support. Any suggestions? My guess is that there is a corrupt directory, or something, in the render module.

Is your VEG file on the same drive as all of your assets?

The person in this thread had a similar issue w/ Movie Studio and it was related to the location of assets and the project file (was also using network drives):

2nd to last post is his solution - https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/cannot-render-project-invalid-argument-was-specified--106898/?page=1#ca661764

I think I have got to the cause of all this.  I must render to the same drive as my *.veg project.

If I don't Project > Render As and also Make Movie > Save it to my hard drive > Advanced options won't work.

It doesn't matter if the media is on a network drive and brought over by Wi-Fi to the project as it renders in the PC.   That's OK.

When the render is complete I can copy it over to a network drive.

If I create a New Project, drop a single png from the same drive, and select "File\Render As" I get the error message. It doesn't even open up the render panel to choose the codec, it simply throws up the error message.

It has been reported before. Try a forum search for the error message " An error occurred while creating the media file"

Don't know if it has been fixed yet; may be a work-around with batch render. Seems fairly rare.

I had done a forum search but I didn't get the wording just right. I did as you suggested and came upon the solution:

"In my case, I fixed the problem by changing the system setting "Render Path", which is about 3/4 the way down on internal settings, to point to a non-network drive folder. (You get to system setting by control-shift options-->preferences-->Internal)."

Thanks!
