Vegas Pro 16,17,18 randomly crashing for years on two different PC´s

Hi!

I am getting a bit mad, for years i have lived with spaming (CTRL + S) every 3 min, cuz you never now when its going to crash.
i am fed up with it, been reading post´s here how to solve it and try finding the root cause to the issue. YouTube video, Reddit and so on. My questions is, is it getting better if i upgrade again? i mean i upgraded the two last versions cuz of the issues. but it never got better.

Before my HW setup was, i had problems. Vegas 16 and 17 and Pro 18.
CPU: AMD Threadripper 2920x
RAM 24GB
GPU: Nvidia 2070 Super
Storage: NVME SSD Samsung 1TB

Now my HW setup is, and i still have issues and problems and Vegas Pro 18.
CPU:  AMD Ryzen 9, 7900X 4.7GHz
RAM 32GB
GPU:  AMD Radeon 7900 XT
Storage: NVME SSD Samsung 1TB

And i can say the new GPU has a TON of power, but AMD during the late summer 2023 fucked up some drivers for us who dont game as much as editing video´s. And its clear VEGAS Dev´s dont know that AMD´s new 7900 GPU´s are REALLY good GPU´s and kicking as with NVIDIA, specially then it comes to price vs performance also. But, VEGAS seams to be stupid and dont understand my GPU or my GPU drivers. for ex. VEGAS finds my GPU as "AMD, inc (gfx 1100) and (gfx 1036)
and well i know my GPU as "AMD Radeon 7900 XT", nothing else and i am not sure if i use the correct one.

Anyhow with this information is there in any direction you can point me in to? So i can continue to look for the issue.
But i have the same issue on two totally different PC´s now. i am not happy.
i have tried to use and not use the OpenCL (True / False) settings.
i have tired to expand my memory use from 200mb up to 10GB.
Can my source files from my GoPro be a issue for random crashing (it hangs and i need to kill Vegas in Task Manager) ?
i have noticed some of my screen recording files are lagy as hell in Vegas, but not then playing the source video in any player.

And this line i write now, i hope the Dev´s read. this is a Dev question, When are you going to release Vegas Pro that can be installed on a "Linux" OS like Fedora OS, the desktop OS from RedHat. or any other Linux Dist? (if you have plans, PLEAS dont or at least dont release it for only Ubuntu. Pleas think of us who use Fedora that works REALLY good at work with MS domains and stuff.

only reason i have not left MS Windows totally is due to Vegas. But now i am asking, PLEAS give us a Vegas Pro version for Linux Desktop OS.

Best Regards
Niclas

You could confirm with GPU-Z but I believe GFX1100 is the 7900 so VEGAS is finding your GPU. At this point AMD works better than NVIDIA, at least for decoding media.

I would not touch OpenCL.

I would not touch dynamic ram preview- keep it on defaults.

The biggest reason for instability with VEGAS is media it doesn't work well with (esp. combined with GPU decoding). Please share details on the media you are using: https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/faq-how-to-post-mediainfo-and-vegas-pro-file-properties--104561/

Newer versions are better but it's very format specific. The latest build of 21 made some headway with HEVC.

I wouldn't expect to ever see VEGAS on Linux- it's built upon Windows components and if there aren't enough resources to properly update it in Windows I can't imagine them having enough to port it to other OS.
