Vegas Pro 16/17 Render Freeze/Crash

Longtime Vegas user, but I suddenly have an issue with freezing/crashing during MPEG2 rendering. The file does not matter as it has done it with multiple projects. After trying a number of tweaks and fixes found on the internet, the only thing that seems to work is disabling GPU acceleration. This wouldn't be a problem, were it not for it now taking 4.5 hours to render a file, rather than just around an hour. I've always had to disable this feature while editing due to sporadic crashes, but never had an issue rendering. Completely frustrating.
Graphics card - Nvidia GeForce GTX1070. Graphics driver (Studio) & Windows 10 up to date.

Does anyone have any thoughts/tricks that may solve the issue or do you just deal with the additional rendering time?

You mention suddenly, that means something was added or altered on your system recently to be causing that,Some sort of automatic update of Windows or your Graphics card driver etc (yes these do causes more problems than good, never set automatic updates for anything on your precious editing system). Retrace your steps and see what was recently done..... Which Vegas version is it by the way?

It's happening in both Pro 16 & 17. I'm thinking it was a graphics card update, but only the Nvidia Experience program was updated this week. The driver remained the same. That's what's frustrating.
