Instructions from video :
Select compositing mode / multiply masks - go to event pan of white solid layer in separate video trk over photo - choose 1st frame - deselect lock aspect ratio - then drag down from pan FX clip to create black cinematic mask.

Creating cinematic mask for black bars works!!!!!! Had accidentally muted the white color video trk.

Grrr... my pet peeve. Fake "widerscreen" on already widescreen displays.

However, if you must, you can use video event pan/crop to do it on the video layer. You don't need to use the multiple mask and a white layer at all. Just crop out the top and bottom of the image like shown above, but on the actual video track. As long as there isn't any video on layers below, you'll see black bars appear.
