Vegas pro 18 and 19 freeze at 98 or 99% render

nexon wrote on 9/20/2021, 6:00 AM

Hello,

I used vegas pro 18.0.0.373 with no problem but yesterday i had problem with 98 or 99% render and freeze.
I used this version because supports NVENC codec (newer version does not have this for example 18.0.0.468 and version 19 aslo).

1.) So why freeze?? now i renering via CPU only no GPU and also freezes on 99% whats going on

2. ) NVENC is no more availble why? i cant see it in newer versions.

For which Nvidia GPU you try to use NVENC and which driverversion exactly is installed for that GPU?

Newer versions and 19 also support NVENC. They don't find your card anymore? Try the latest Studio driver.

719.6

RogerS wrote on 9/20/2021, 7:07 AM

471.68 is the current Studio Driver.
What you have 471.96 is the latest Game Ready driver. I'd recommend staying with Studio as it's less likely to have bugs that break Vegas.

Beyond that I'd reset VP 18.521 or VP 19 and see if it works with NVENC again. https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/faq-how-can-i-reset-vegas-pro-to-default-settings--104646/

You can also go to "graphics settings" in Windows search and assign Vegas to your high-performance (NVIDIA) GPU.

j-v wrote on 9/20/2021, 7:07 AM

Download and install the online one mentioned in those driver updates

There was an explanation on this forum a while back about the difference between Game and Studio drivers, and that was that Game drivers provide quick fixes to address frequently changing game world issues; whereas, Studio drivers are designed for reliability.

In the end, it is the user's choice as to whether to prefer game performance over NLE performance. Maybe the answer is to have 2 computers: one for games and the other for NLE editing, each with different drivers.

If many rendering options result in a render freeze at around the same % point, check to make sure that one of the media at around that point in the project is not corrupted for some reason.

Maybe not bad idea... CPU and GPU render in same time freezes. Maybe i try another media render later.

But question is why i don´t see NVENC codec? No more exists why?

Have you rebooted since you installed the driver? That can help sometimes.

Systems:

Desktop

AMD Ryzen 7 1800x 8 core 16 thread at stock speed

64GB 3000mhz DDR4

Geforce RTX 3090

Windows 10

Laptop:

ASUS Zenbook Pro Duo 32GB (9980HK CPU, RTX 2060 GPU, dual 4K touch screens, main one OLED HDR)

Of course many times + new day = new start (power PC).

Also not as a help for the Magix AVC codec as mine?

Maybe you need a total reset of the program following exactly this tutorial.

Try to fully remove your GPU driver using this app: https://www.guru3d.com/files-details/display-driver-uninstaller-download.html

Then re-install the latest studio driver.

Does the problem persist?

So i now insalled vegas pro 19 361 nothing... I try remove GPU and install new latest studio driver.

fr0sty wrote on 9/21/2021, 8:39 AM

nvenc not showing up is definitely something wrong on the GPU/driver end. as it shows up for everyone else, even some using that same GPU.

You maybe could try an older NVIDIA studio driver, but I doubt that is it.

Does the render still crash if you go into preferences>video and turn off GPU acceleration? and also turn off any GPU decoding in the file i/o tab?

So i uninstalled completely driver via DDU and restarted pc auomatically, downlaoded and installed geforce experience and downloaded studio driver (clean install) afer that i do restart and chceck the problem. Still is here problem.

j-v wrote on 9/21/2021, 9:19 AM

..downlaoded and installed geforce experience

Better no to do that because you don't need this with Vegas Pro.
Download this driver

through this link.
Install only the driver and nothing else they offer you during installation.
Do a clean install of that new driver
