Thanks for that! However it is still crashing right away. We can use Vegas Pro for editing and all that. It's only the File-> Render As that keeps crashing.....

ok - I'm stuck..., but let's see... do you install any 3rd party rendering? One of most important that needs to be updated is voukoder. If I remember, in the early days, it was troubling, and after update and redownload the new connector for new version, problem solved.

Don't forget when the crash happened, leave your username and leave hashtag #renderascrash on the report. Hopefully VEGAS Team able to analyze the problem based on your report.

We do have a bunch of VST plugins and we have Total FX mostly for effects. I don't think I have a 3rd party "rendering" tool... and when I go on that computer again I'll do the # like you said :D

Also do you know if there's a way to download an "older" copy of Vegas Pro. We were using 15 and 17 previously and those worked fine. 17 is still installed but we can't open it "error 59 license expiration".

You probably need your old license from 15, not the 365 one. All should be under your Magix account?

So you did try creating a brand new project with nothing in it, going to the media generator tab, dropping one piece of generated media in there (it can be anything) onto the timeline, and when you click render as with just that on the timeline, it still crashes? If it does not, close the render dialog box that pops up, then open your son's project immediately afterwards, without closing VEGAS, it should render ok then.

In VP18, to access Internal setting has been changed, just press [SHIFT] while clicking Options from the Menu Bar, and you will notice 'Internal' on the most bottom. Go there and proceed on the suggested changes for 'multi-core' settings.

Another thing you might try is this alternative to the RenderAs dialog.

In the "Tools" menu, select "Scripting", select "Batch Render"

In the dialog that opens, scroll to the bottom of the list.
Click the [+] next to "MAGIX AVC/AAC MP4" to expand the list of templates.
Check the checkbox for the desired template, such as "Internet HD 1080p 29.97 fps".

Use the "Browse..." button to alter the name and location for the video file, if needed.

At the bottom of the dialog, verify "Render Project" is set

Then click OK to begin rendering the project.

Also, in future, if a crash should occur, please submit the automated crash report.
They are often helpful is diagnosing problems.

As for Error -59, please try complete uninstall and reinstall of application.

Did you check if the hardware and installed OS match the spec for VPro 18?
VPro 18 has higher needs than your older 14 and 17 both had.

I will try all these suggestions this weekend :D And get back to you!
