Vegas Pro 19.0 freezing all the time

pawelaski wrote on 6/30/2022, 12:54 PM

I have just upgraded from version 16.0 which was freezing very often. Now it is Version: Vegas Pro 19.0 Build 643 and it is even worst. It freezes during moving clips on timeline, freezes during preview and freezes during rendering.

My favourite shortcut combination is CTRL+S but it is very annoying to kill program and restart it every few minutes.

Specification of my computer:
Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i9-9900K CPU @ 3.60GHz   3.60 GHz
RAM: 64,0 GB
System: Win 11 64-bitowy system operacyjny, procesor x64
Graphics Card Model: Geforce RTX 2070

I use materials recorded by Sony Alpha 7R. Please find below example of file properties and information from MediaInfo.

My projects are HD 1080-25p (1920x1080; 25,000 fps)

I would appreciate your help

Thanks, all are normal except the GPU from your Intel Processor I see not.
I have almost the same hardware on my laptop from signature but there I have also that GPU 630 from Intel.
Are you using laptop or desktop computer?
Sometimes on a laptop you have to allow that Graphic Processor in the BIOS show up for getting all its advantages, special those for viewing the timeline and rendering a project.

I use desktop computer. I checked my BIOS setting and I see that Internal Graphics is set to auto.

Thanks. I will update driver, but I doubt it solve the problems.

@pawelaski
Do you see it (Intell GPU) somewhere in Vegas, f.i as possibility in Preferences /Video or ij the rendertemplates as a QSV renderpossibility like mine

I have not seen it, so I have changed BIOS settings for Internal Graphics from 'auto' to 'enabled' and now I see it - both in perferences and in render menu.

Do you use it as a default in perferences? I will try this settings

pawelaski wrote on 6/30/2022, 3:33 PM

With new settings I have got almost immediately the freeze again.

j-v wrote on 6/30/2022, 3:39 PM

I think Vegas 19 will see it also and will set the preferences the right way.
My settings and yours, before you enabled the Intel GPU, differed only on File I/O.
My default and good setting there is

I returned to all deafult setting and now I see no freezing of Vegas Pro. Then only change was enabling onboad graphics. I think it solved the problem of frequent freezing.

Marten, thank you for help. You are GREAT!

p.s. I am surprised that rendering with Intel Graphics (e.g. 1:10 min) is a little bit faster than with Nvidia (1:21 min).

RogerS wrote on 6/30/2022, 11:14 PM

In VEGAS, Intel decoding is more stable than NVIDIA. For render speed QSV holds its own against other GPU-based encoders. Benchmark link
