I don't know what an "iPhone screen recording" is. Did you point your phone at your computer screen?? And your iPhone recorded Variable Frame Rate video of your fixed screen frame rate? Hardly a recipe for success in Vegas. 😯

The way to record your Windows screen is with a screen capture utility. We like OBS Studio here.

It's a recording taken using the iphone screen reocrding tool, bult in to the device which records what happens on the screem- haven't had an issue with it until the last few days

Thank you for the clarification. I don't know anything about iPhone screen recordings. Upload an actual file from your phone to Drive or Dropbox (not the forum player or Youtube).

Then someone can tell you more about it, test it in our Vegas installations, try to confirm your observation, and make suggestions based on that.

I will do that shortly, do you know a good converter for VFR recordings? I have read elsewhere about this being a problem in Vegas

That was going to be my next suggestion after looking at your file. In order of preference:

  1. Shutter Encoder
  2. Handbrake
  3. ffmpeg
