Vegas Pro 19 Default layout + Custom layouts gone haywire

Douglass-Ray wrote on 10/12/2023, 1:54 PM

I’ve always used my saved custom layout across all projects.  Working from a project template, the layout and all custom settings are of course the same.

Suddenly, in all my projects (about 250), the layout has reverted to the video preview only.  And this has now also become the default Layout (Alt+D,D).

So I then went through the process of rebuilding my custom layout from scratch, and saved it in the windows layout list (as, e.g., alt+D,0). But then, when I open another project, or create a new project, the saved layout doesn't appear in the View > Windows Layouts pulldown. It does appear in the project in which it was saved -- but only there.  (So this would mean I’d have to rebuild a new layout template from scratch every time I open a new project!)

It may be that I have to reinstall Vegas 19.   If so, I’ve forgotten how to do that  -- and can’t find instructions in the manual or online.  Any help would be appreciated!

I think it's a recurring problem with Vegas Pro 19. Since it's not being developed any further, you may need to explore workarounds or consider upgrading.

Thanks for your reply. I realized that an obvious possible answer was to reset Vegas, and it fixed the problem.

However, after the reset, while trying to rearrange the columns in Project Media Details, the clip Name column disappeared. Of course, the clip name is rather important. Even another reset doesn't fix it. Any ideas as to how to get the name column back?

@Douglass-Ray, right-click any track header, go to View, and turn Name back on.

@Douglass-Ray It's customary to mark the appropriate comment as the solution, not your own.
