Vegas Pro 19 not beveling correctly with a smaller-sized picture

  • 7-10-2022 - Hi there.  My system is a PC using Windows 10 version 21H2.

  • There is an issue with Vegas Pro 19 build 643.  Please see my 3 screenshots which pictorially demonstrates what I am talking about.

  • In Vegas Pro 19 under the “VideoFX” selection tab and then going to “Border” and then choosing “Bevel”, this is where Vegas Pro 19 is not working correctly when dragging the “Bevel” plugin onto a smaller-sized picture

  • In Vegas Pro 19 in the first example, when dragging the “Bevel” plugin down to the picture, it forms a perfect bevel around the entire picture on all 4 sides with a full screen 1920 x 1080 picture and this IS CORRECT and the way it should be.  However, look at the next screenshot for a smaller-sized picture.

  • But, in Vegas Pro 19, when you drag the Bevel plugin onto a smaller-sized picture, the beveling only shows up on the top and bottom and not on all 4 sides like it should.  This works correctly in Vegas Pro 17 and Vegas Pro 18 but NOT in Vegas Pro 19.  Please fix this because I’ve been using this plugin for years and it’s messed up in Vegas Pro 19.  This USED TO BE an issue in Vegas Pro 18 and I reported it and they fixed it but now it’s messed up in Vegas Pro 19 on the smaller-sized picture.

  • Lastly, to show you it’s working correctly in Vegas Pro 18, I show in my last screenshot what this looks like Vegas Pro 18 which is displaying correctly using the smaller-sized picture and this is the way it should be displayed.  This is the way it should also be displayed in Vegas Pro 19 using the smaller-sized picture but it’s NOT displaying correctly.  Please fix this issue in Vegas Pro 19 as it would be greatly appreciated.  Thank you.

@Debbie-Whitmer Hi, try swapping the Pan/Crop with the Border at the top of the Video Event FX window 👍

Hi Gid! Thank you so much for responding and understanding what I was trying to relate here! Wow, I did not know you could do that. Amazing! Shock! I wonder why the rest of the selections work by just easily dragging them down on a smaller-sized picture but not with the bevel plugin and having to do that extra step of swapping the Pan/Crop with the bevel border. Hmmmmm. That 1 extra step is not too bad to do. There is another way to do this but it takes so many steps to do it which is to

(1) Select the 3 dots on the picture itself while residing on the track to open up a drop-down menu,
(2) then select Media FX from the drop-down menu
(3) then select Border,
(4) then select ADD and OK on the upper right-hand portion of the screen
(5) then from the Preset window, select Bevel
(6) then exit out of the preset menu

But look how many steps you have to do it!! Six (6) extra steps is a long way to go compared to simply dragging the plugin down to the picture and your task is done! Oh my, I will definitely go with what you suggested Gid! Again, I want to thank you so much for responding and giving me a resolution in solving my problem! Yay!! If others run into this same problem, this post will help them too! I'm excited! You made my day! Thank you so much my friend!!

Debbie

@Debbie-Whitmer Good, I'm glad you're sorted & you're welcome, each effect added at the top there will have an effect on the one before it (to the left), so moving them around will give different effects, adding Bezier mask with 'mask fx' ticked will only effect the fxs that are in the lists to the left etc..

If you didn't know.. in Preferences - Display there's a box you can tick, Allow floating windows to dock, you can then dock this window next to your Video FX tab,

Thank you so much Gid! You have been a tremendous help! I've been using Vegas Pro for years and it has so many features that I still have not used them all! There's always something new to learn! Thanks again! - Debbie
