@Wolfgang S.: Yes, thank you. That's why I'm keeping V21 300. I have an ongoing project I've been using it for and don't want install the older version and have to reconstruct my project.

What can be done in the meantime: use the manual adjustment. Edit the footage - and correct it when an update will be available.

@Wolfgang S.: Have you successfully done this and rendered 3D from V21 300? I tried manually adjusting the horizontal offset in some 3D clips this morning in V21 300 but my first try at rendering was reeeel slow and hung up completely at 64%. I rebooted and tried again, it was slow but said it completed but the result was 0kbytes.

The same (reconstructed) project in V20 rendered fast.

This was a messy case, so I'd have to come up with a simpler/reproduceable one to pursue a bug report.

So, I tried an apples & apples comparison, loading a single 6s 3D SBS full 4320x2160 clip into V20 and V21.

Simply dragging the clip to the timeline, letting it set the project settings and re-rendering the clip as-is took 7.48 seconds in V20 and 7.57 seconds in V20.

Setting the project to 3D Side-by-side full, adding 3D strereoscopic adjust fx and applying a horizontal shift increased the render times to 18.14 and 18.27 seconds in V20 and V21, respectively. (The source clips require no other 3D adjustment.)

On the face of it that looks fine.

However, a slightly more complex 24 second project using 3 additional clips from the same source took 1:14.00 to render in V20 and 30:01.08 in V21!

All renders were done using Magix HEVC.

3D stereoscopic adjust seems to be working in V21 314, but I'm still seeing a big difference in 3D render times in my 24 second case.

Would it be possible, that you upload a sample of the files that you use? I would like to test and repro that.

And: which HEVC render template was used? A snapshoot would be great.

And: what are the project settings, the settings for preferences(video, and for preferences file i/o? Snapshoots would be appreciated too.

Source clips, in the order they appear:

These screen shots illustrate how they are placed on the timeline. The shorter clips correct errors in the longer ones. They overlap the longer clips by 30 frames for the first case, and 45 frames in the second. The 4 clip sequence is just copied and abutted to the first instance so it plays twice. I added fade outs & had to trim the final longer clip for that to appear correctly.

Here's how it looks:

I attempted to rebuild this test project last night, but it seems it will require additional time for testing.

However, the playback performance with this footage is dreadful, yielding only 0.5-1 fps. This is particularly disappointing considering my laptop's capability to edit 6K BRAW at 50p.

Per further private messages with @Wolfgang S. it appears the issue is related to the AVC/H264 format the clips are rendered in.

The software I use to create them outputs a folder of individual frames as png files then uses FFMPEG to render AVC/H264 and/or HEVC/H265 files. I therefor tried two experiments today:

First, I recreated the project using image sequences to replace the original mp4 files.
Both V20 and V21 314 rendered these as HEVC files in about the same time: V20 4:17.88, V21 314 4:06.74. But this is still almost 4X longer than the original V20 render using the AVC/H264 clips.

Next, I produced HEVC/H265 versions of the clips using the same ffmpeg inputs the software would have used if I would have requested it in the first place. Using these clips to reproduce the project slowed down the V20 render but sped up the V21 314 render: V20 8:35.37, V21 314 48.19 seconds!

Subjectively, it appears V21 314 handles the HEVC/H265 clips better---preview are smoother, etc.

Here are links to the HEVC/H265 clips:
