Vegas Pro 21 Poor Preview performance

I am editing 4k 60p footage and I'm very bummed with the stuttering with the previews. I have a very fast pc and the Task manager doesn't show any bottlenecks with SSD, VC, CPU, or RAM. Attached are screenshots of project and media settings. Maybe there's something there I'm missing? Any suggestions is appreciated.

PC Specs:

AMY Ryzen 5900x 12 Core 4.18 ghz

96 GB DDR4 RAM

radeon 7900XTX

A few more details: it stutters in draft quarter preview quality. RAM dedicated to preview in settings of program has been a Gig to 10Gigs. I am using GPU acceleration.

Your project properties height doesn't match media value of 2160.

Try editing in 8 bit full and switch to 32 bit full with view transform off before the render.

The go-to solution built into Vegas is to render a 30p Proxy file.

That's for sure a solution. I just am in disbelief that my high spec machine is struggling to playback unedited 4k footage in draft half preview mode.

My laptop from 2017 can play back unedited 4K footage at best full.

What's the difference? The type of media (I'm using 8-bit 4:2:0 UHD AVC). I'm editing in 8-bit full mode vs 32-bit due to the performance penalty (you can always set it back to 32-bit before the render). I'm also shooting in 24p or 30p as that's common for cinematic productions with 60fps used sparingly for slow motion.

What's your media? Is it a screencapture? Does it have long GOPs (keyframe interval greater than 1 or 2 seconds of footage?)

With better recording or capture settings you'll get a file that's playable without proxies.

Previewing 60p frame rate is always tough in Vegas.

Consider editing with a Proxy file.
