Vegas Pro 22: Audio Drifting for HDV 1080i Footage

rtbond wrote on 12/17/2024, 7:05 PM

Hello,

I discovered that the audio track begins to lag the video track for HDV 1080i footage in VP22, but not in VP21. The HDV track's A/V sync is fine with a VLC playback, so this seems this is specific to VP22 (Build 194). While in VP22 the A/V sync is good at the start of the track, but 9 minutes into the timeline the audio is lagging the video by 20 frames. This gets progressively worse as you go deeper into timeline.

I tried three different HDV 1080i source files and they all are experiencing the same loss of A/V sync (but only in VP22 and not in VP21). The MediaInfo details for one of these HDV 1080i files is below

Any suggestions, other than reverting back to VP21 to these HDV tracks?

Could we get a sample for testing (upload to Google Drive, etc.?)

There seem to be multiple decoding issues with legacy footage and 22 at the moment. (see the video section of this forum as well).

@RogerS HERE is a link to a 10-min HDV 1080i clip (I used FFMPEG to extract this sample from the full clip). When you place this clip on the VP22 timeline there is a scene transition at about the 9:06 mark from a noisy gymnasium to a quiet scene with a dog-on-a-deck. About 20 frames worth of audio from the noisy gymnasium spills into the dog-on-a-deck scene. As noted above, I do not see the behavior on VP21 or during VLC playback. The longer the clip, the more the audio lags the video.

VP20 plays correctly, VP22 doesn't.

rtbond wrote on 12/19/2024, 7:40 PM

@Former user Thanks for confirming that this seems to be a VP22-specific problem. I have reverted back to VP21 for the purposes of my HDV-based projects.

I have been working with Magix support on this issue. It appears to be specific to VP22 Build 194 (the current build as of this posting). The prior build (122) works fine. If you need build 122, it is HERE.
