Almost ALL of MY crashes upon startup (which would include auto load a last project) are caused my the large amount of audio VST 2 and 3 plugins I have. Maybe rename the entire VST 2 and 3 folders on your drive and try a clean start. This is for testing only as it might identify that this is the issue, but will disable VST's in your audio recording DAWs also...There used to be a command to load Vegas without any audio plugins but I don't remember it's exact context. Anyone???
iI this solves your issues, you can think about some kind of work around. I will try to find the "switches" to load Vegas without plugins from you audio side of things...

Try "Options">"Preferences">"VST Effects" Tab. Remove any audio vst paths there, if you can get into Vegas at all... You don't need all the audio FX and Instrument plugins.. Good Luck! I know Vegas CAn be a pain in the *AZZ*

Do either of the benchmark projects in my signature open? They have worked on many systems. If not you definitely should try the reset.

Yes I can open vegas pro but it crashes when i open a project.

I tried the recommendation from AlienOnVacation on downloading from the link he gave me. Did not work to open the projects. I notice now vegas pro is crashing when i try to make a new video and i drop media in the timeline.

Its weird some projects stop loading at 19%


While other project crashes from simply opening them.


I tried renaming två path folders, did not work, crashes upon opening project.


Then i tried removing them, and only had this one left. After doing this i tried to open the same project. Did not work to open projects. So i tried to create a new video and it worked. BUT i cant create a new video with the same media that belongs to the project that wont open. What does this mean!? that the media got corrupted?? Vegas pro is really unstable because i have at least 3 projects i cant open. i dont dare to try and open the rest. Maybe i can make a copy of the projects and see which ones work and which dont. But its too sad that i cant work in peace and know i will be able to open it a week from now..


Opening these selected projects allways ends the same. Specifik projects will get stuck at 19% while others allways crash the software...

i deleted the SFK file and tried to open the project for which the project crashed upon opening. And it worked! now i can open it.... Im sure your fix with my deletion helped. I will try and open the rest of the projects as well..

Hmm... the project where it gets stuck at 19% to open is still having the same problem. Even though i removed the folder path for the two VST folders AND deleted the SFK files. I allways have to force close vegas pro with CTRL + ALT + DELETE, otherwise it wont shutdown when i try to close it.

Third project which allways crashes after i press the "ignore all missing files and leave them offline".
I tried to delete all of its SFK files, and that seemed to do the trick.

Question is how i fix the projects which get stuck at 19%

In the error reporting box what does it say when you click "show problem details"? Can you paste the message here?

How can i see the error message when all it does is get stuck at 19%? I dont receive and error box sadly.

I still have not tried to reset vegas pro yet. I will do it when im done with those other projects. Im afraid they might stop working again..

To make this reporting window appear when VEGAS hangs (at least some times) you can hold down shift, go to the options menu and go down to the bottom. Click on Internal and type in hang. For hang detection change false to TRUE and hit okay. Then you might get an error reporting window when VEGAS gets stuck and that may tell us something about what's going on.

In general a reset is safe to do but I can understand wanting to finish projects before making further changes.

I did what you said but i did not receive any error box, sadly. It just stops at 19%.
When i click on close. this pops up:

And even if i click on "yes" it wont shut down.
I still have to force close vegas pro with CTRL + ALT + DELETE, otherwise it wont shutdown when i try to close it.

For whatever reason that isn't triggering the hang detection, unfortunately (it asks you if you want to shut it down).

@Emma-Eriksson as far as I know, there is no Vegas Post 22. What you are experiencing is rare. It would have been wonderful if with the Error reporting window, you had clicked on Show Problem Details. That would have shown where Vegas is crashing.

You can shut down Vegas via the Task Manager.

You write the Vegas crashes every time you open a project. What if you started a project with just your assets on the timeline. Does it crash then? Add some of what your previous projects had, effects, etc.. Then do a Save As and rename the project. I personally do incremental saves when I do something I don't feel like replicating. I never just do a Save (Ctrl S).

Those VST's I has too. Never an issue with them.

Have you reset Vegas?

So i think i know now what the problem were. I were working from a HDD drive that was dying (didnt think about that). Alot of weird things happened after this post and now everything is lost. If i experience the same issue when working from SSD i will create a new post. Thanks for all the comments.
