Vegas Pro 22 - Rendering is not smooth

alex-d3993 wrote on 3/12/2025, 3:36 PM

Hi, I changed from Vegas Pro 21 to Vegas Pro 22 (it's not a pirated copy, I bought it), I used it for a couple of months and it was okay. Then I formatted my computer and I changed from Windows 10 to Windows 11 and now I have a problem: when I render a video (render settings: MAGIX AVC/AAC 1920x1080, 25 fps, bit rate max 24,000,000 average 20,000,000), it's not smooth, especially in slow motion scenes. I did not have this problem before and the computer is the same (graphic card NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060, processor AMD Ryzen 9 5900X). I can't understand what's going on, I always used these settings. Can you help me, please? Thank you!

Footage attributes: 1920x1080 50.000 fps

Project settings: frame rate 25.000 PAL, resample mode disabled

You still have V21 available. Install V21 and test. If problem exists with V21 there may be a problem with w11. Did you install the correct/latest nVid studio drivers for your graphics card?

Were there duplicate frames? Can you provide a sample file that has a problem and tell us exactly where you see a problem?

My guess is maybe an issue decoding the source footage or with the generation of extra frames for slow motion.

Hi, you can find a sample file here: https://we.tl/t-zhRLUSAnDT As you can see, the slow motion is choppy

Thanks Alex. I checked and don't see duplicate frames, which is good.

How exactly did you do the slow motion? Since the original footage was 50p you just halved the playback rate ("add at project framerate") to get perfect 25fps slow motion?

Was the camera shutter speed at 50 or 100fps (higher can look choppy)?

As I have always done for the last 20 years :) : right click-velocity-50%. I have never had similar problems so far and I always use this type of files (I'm not a videographer, I'm just a video editor)

Also tried this file and playback is smooth with no stuttering or dropped frames, preview best full. V22 (239), V21 and V20. W11-24H2. Does not seem like a Vegas problem.

Ok guys, I just watched older works and they look choppy. So I don't have a problem with rendering (because they were perfectly smooth) but with playback. Now I'll google for info. Thank you all so much and sorry if I wasted your time

No, you haven't at all. The forum has helped you to better isolate the cause of the problem.

If you're looking for a player, Media Player Black with LAV filters and MadVr is very versatile and looks great. It also has MediaInfo built into it.
