  • Under HDR10 project (ACEScc space) the recognition of ProRes HDR footage is gone.
    In Build278 it was OK.
  • After rendering, reactivating HDR view button leads crash at once; in Build278 it happens only after 2-3 times reclicking.
  • Render speed for HDR project differs quite, it seems if the 1st event uses GPU fully (e.g. a nested project file before other events) then the whole render goes up to 12fps, Else it's merely 5-7fps; both Builds so.

Back to 278.

Unfortunately the Quicktime Plugin still doesn't seem to be working, I can't get qt7plug.dll to load anything on my timeline.

(Works in Vegas 21 / 22)

andyrpsmith wrote on 9/29/2025, 3:47 PM

When V22 and V23(both versions) are open together using the same media folder with their own Veg files, V22 frame rate when playing is unaffected (V23 stopped and minimised). V23 however plays with a frame rate of 3-14fps (media is XAVCS 4K 25p, V22 stopped and minimised). Also clips stabilized with Mercalli Pro Ver 6 OFX run at 25fps with V22 and 14fps with V23. V23 crashes when I plug in my SD card reader.

When you search for a transition, if you don’t click on the name of the transition, the program keeps showing the animation of the previous transition, so if you drag it, it applies the previous transition instead. This doesn’t happen in other versions of Vegas. Also, the colors look overly saturated in my H.264 files. In addition, when you open the effect adjustment bar and then close it, the Effects window, Plugin Manager, or other., automatically reset to their default size and position every time when you close the effect adjustment bar.

I’m waiting for these bugs to be fixed before purchasing Vegas Pro 23, because the program runs faster, but with these bugs I can’t present my projects—especially due to the overly saturated color issue and the transition bug. Thank you very much for the hard work you do, and please keep it up.

RogerS wrote on 9/29/2025, 7:11 PM

@10Year_User Could you provide more info about the saturation issue or link to a post you already made about it? Is this in 32 bit ACES mode or an issue with certain media?

VEGAS Pro 30.2 – ProRes 4444 white screen issue persists

After updating to the 30.2 patch, ProRes 4444 footage with graphics still displays only as solid white inside VEGAS Pro.
The patch notes mentioned fixes related to ProRes, but this issue has not been resolved yet.

I have confirmed that:

The problem occurs consistently with ProRes 4444 files.

Other ProRes variants (e.g., 422) import correctly.

Changing project bit depth or alpha channel settings does not fix it.

Please check if this bug is still under review and when a proper fix can be expected.

During testing, I found that disabling both “Enable legacy AVC decoding” and “Enable experimental HEVC decoding” and restarting the program restores the original, correct colors.
When these options are enabled again, the video displays as a white screen.

BUG 1 Color is over satured in h.264 video files. example picture of the same file h.264 in Vegas 21 vs vegas 23. The difference is huge.

Bug2 after type a transition in vegas 23 continue the before transition. In vegas 21 the transition is updated in real time without problem. Image atached.

BUG3 After close the event fx tab vegas 23 change to the default the windows size like is show in the picture. So i need custom the size of the tab every time when i use a effect.

quoting 10Year_User >>>> Bug2: after type a transition in Vegas 23 continue the before transition. In Vegas 21 the transition is updated in real time without problem. >>>

Indeed, and by the way, the same applies for FX selection, in VP23 you have to specifically select the FX or transition after a search. You have to do this before dropping the FX or transition on your events.
I am not sure this is considered a bug (although it deviates from prior main releases), but I suspect this is a part or consequence of a redesign or new way of doing things, @VEGASDerek correct me if I am wrong.
On a personal level, I am frustrated with this new way, as I often have to undo (CTRL-Z) after dropping the wrong FX on the clip when forgetting to select first (old habits die hard)!

@10Year_User That's an issue where the new extended color space conversion option internal preferences is unexpectedly changing the color range of footage in the legacy video range modes. In general I'd recommend editing in full range anyway.

(Change true to false if you need to stay in the video/legacy modes. Hold down shift and go to the options menu to unlock internal preferences.)

Again to Build302.

With my machine, after project loading or timeline playing back, the CPU sticks on very high usage (mostly 100%).
I must force VEGAS go "offline" and back active to release the usage. (Yet after rendering it comes releasing the CPU normally.)

In HDR 60fps timeline, preview Best/Half:

  • 4k60p ProRes HDR footage manually adjusted into right IDT gets very poor performance by playback.
  • 10bit422AVC 4k60pHLG playback near 30fps.
  • 10bit422AVC 4k30pHLG playback almost 60fps speed.
  • 10bit420HEVC 4k60pHLG playback about 45fps.

Just now, starting an SDR project to check media codecs and their performances on timeline, about 30min long, has been freezing all my PC system during playback as I was in the kitchen and back to see:

My PC is installed in Win11 Chinese version but due to location many winApps in German - I think these have no relationship to VEGAS (all in English version).
I must restart my PC.
So the report.

VEGASDerek wrote on 10/1/2025, 9:00 AM

@lukizap This is not an officially released update. This is just a beta build. You need to download it from the link provided in the announcement post.

Weegeepie wrote on 10/1/2025, 9:12 AM

Hello Vegas team, thanks for this beta build trying to fix the issues mostly related to Prores 4444
However as other users said, the issue is not fixed

Goal? Get Prores 4444, most commonly videos with transparency, to display correctly, with the transparency of course

In Vegas Pro 22:
On a fresh installation, I drag my Prores 4444 .MOV on the timeline, works out of the box, no settings modified
Colors are accurate and transparency works
Checking the video properties, it uses 'so4compoundplug.dll'

In Vegas Pro 23 Release build:
On a fresh installation, I drag my Prores 4444 .MOV on the timeline, transparency works, but colors are messed up
Checking video properties, it also uses 'so4compoundplug.dll'
In this new beta:
Colors are correct, but transparency doesn't work
It now seems to use 'mxcompoundplug.dll'
Renaming it's folder, forcing so4compoundplug to be used instead, we are back to the 23 release build behavior, where transparency works but colors are messed up, this even though the plug appears to have been made four days ago

Thanks for your work, I hope my detailed explanations will help!

Weegeepie wrote on 10/1/2025, 9:16 AM

Additional info:
In the eventuality that you guys are testing with standard, non transparent MOV, here are OBS settings that get you Transparent Prores 4444 files, which I assume is going to be the common setup for most users here:

I'm not seeing this. Transparency seems to be working fine in build 302.
