Vegas Pro 23, Crashes - Problem: Unmanaged Exception (0xc0000005).

I had Vegas Pro 21 which worked fine but today it stopped working. I was on the edge regarding upgrading to Vegas 23 so I thought I should upgrade to Vegas Pro 23, unfortunately Vegas Pro 23 also gave me the same error. It crashes as soon as I start it and problem report shows this :-

Problem Description
   Application Name:    VEGAS Pro
Application Version: Version 23.0 (Build 302)
   Problem:             Unmanaged Exception (0xc0000005)
   Fault Module:       C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\ntdll.dll
   Fault Address:       0x00007FFA514BC1FE
   Fault Offset:         0x000000000001C1FE

Two probable cause that I can think of is that there was a recent windows security update and I updated my CCTV software Blue Iris from version 5 to version 6. Both of this should not cause an issue with Vegas but there hasn't been any other change in my system.

Before posting here I did a google search for troubleshooting and have tired the below mentioned things but it didn't help.

  1. Restarted my PC.
  2. Updated GPU driver to the latest version.
  3. Ran it as administrator.
  4. Used Control + Shift while starting the software.
  5. Uninstalled and reinstalled Vegas 23.
  6. Uninstalled and reinstalled Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable v14.
  7. In Vegas' installation folder renamed the subfolder named UPS to UPSold.
  8. Looked to uninstall MS Visual Studio but it wasn't installed.

System details :-
Windows 11, Intel i7 14700k CPU, AMD 7900 XTX GPU, 128 GB Ram.

Please help.

The issue is with Windows system file. Have you ran (as administrator) in CMD, sfc /scannow? Or, dism?

@Old_Boy Search the forum for "ntdll.dll" and you will find several threads that might help you.

Someone on reddit told me that old versions of Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable might solve the issue. So I was looking into old version of Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable, found that v14 contains all old versions. Then I noticed there are 3 versions of Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable v14 and I have installed x86, whereas I needed x64. Didn't uninstall the x64, installed x86 version and it started working.

The problem in fact is with a particular version Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable, I noticed that version number of x64 Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable that I originally had (Which was installed by Blue Iris Update) was different from the latest version. So the latest version available on Microsoft website solves this issue.
