[Vegas Pro 23] Mask Position Problem (appears in different location)

chengquan100 wrote on 9/18/2025, 6:32 AM

This issue has been around since 22 and still exists in 23. When I use the Pan/Crop and Mask, the mask position does not match what's shown in the preview window. How can this problem be solved? Could this be an issue with Sony's encoding that can't be fixed?

The demo footage was shot with a Sony camera, and this issue occurs with some of the files.

Honestly, the stability of updates over the past couple of years has been really poor— even the most basic functions are bugged.

In version 23, there's also an issue with videos containing an Alpha Channel — they show abnormal exposure problems. What's worse, even footage downloaded directly from VEGAS Hub's Stock Media has the same problem.

Thanks for reporting this. It also looks wrong here (Sony X-AVC S UHD file tested)

All ProRes4444 footage isn't working, but you already reported that and already heard that it will be fixed.

@chengquan100

I find this to be an issue when my preview window is set to PREVIEW or DRAFT. BEST and GOOD seem to show the actual mask and is a proper representation of how it will look in the render.

I'm not sure if this is the same issue, but perhaps try this to rule it out!

Weird, I do not seem to have this issue, I almost thought I had the same issue, but then I realized that I had not pressed/enabled the sync cursor symbol (bottom left in the pan/crop) and my cursor had moved causing the effect of having the mask viewing a wrong location. I see that @RogerS does not have his cursor synced as well. I however cannot explain @chengquan100 picture as he has his cursor synced.
Tried both in preview and draft, but cannot simulate the issue.
