Hello everyone,
I’m writing this because I’m concerned about the current update trajectory for VEGAS Pro 23. We’ve only seen one major attempt at an update since the release of Build 302, which was Build 356. Unfortunately, that build was pulled almost immediately without any official notification. At this rate, I’m worried we’ll only see one or two more updates before the focus shifts entirely to VEGAS Pro 24.
Looking back, it feels like we are stuck in a cycle of "one step forward, two steps back.
VEGAS Pro 21: We saw the first phase of the new video engine in the last Build, but it was left with significant RAM leaks in Adjustment Events and very slow third party VST3 loading times.
VEGAS Pro 22: This fixed most of the Adjustment Events/VST3 and core stability issues but introduced a massive RAM leak in the LUT plugin and few other video fx plugins reported by some users. More importantly, we lost compatibility with VEGAS Effects, which was a huge blow.
VEGAS Pro 23: While it’s slightly faster then VP 22 in some Codecs, but it has introduced its own set of critical issues specifically with ProRes files/rendering and 32-bit float projects.
Rendering in VP 23 is faster than previous versions, but it’s still not the same as Voukoder. Sadly, the basic version of Voukoder no longer works with VP 23 except Voukoder Pro which is 69 euros. This leaves us reliant on the internal VEGAS render options, where the ProRes encoder currently is broken UI glitches and color range issues.
Does anyone have an estimate on when the next stable build will be released to replace the pulled Build 356.?
I am honestly afraid that this cycle will continue indefinitely where a version is essentially left behind just as it's starting to get better, only for us to be pushed toward the next paid release to get the fixes we need now. We need a stable and reliable version of the current software version before the focus shifts to the next one.
