Looking back over posts with this problem the advice even from Vegas team is to contact Vegas Support for a resolution.

Have you used a non-legal version of Vegas before buying it on Steam?
I remember it was an issue for people that switched to a legit copy in the past

Thanathip-Prajuabmool wrote on 10/26/2025, 2:13 PM

Nope I didn't install any non-legal version but ,I have try Trial version before using Steam version and I don't know why my old laptop that had pirate version of Vegas pro 21 can use Vegas 23 Steam Edition without any problem.

Thanathip-Prajuabmool wrote on 10/26/2025, 4:08 PM

Now I have downgrade my Window from 11 to 10 It didn't change anything same problem ,at this point I don't know how to fix this anymore :(

@Thanathip-Prajuabmool I think it might be because the old serial numbers weren't deleted completely?
I haven't used the Steam edition, so it's just a guess. However, you can try deleting the folder "C:\ProgramData\VEGAS\VEGAS_Pro_23\", where some of your serial numbers are stored.

Yeah I tried to delete that folder too but there is nothing but my own steam version serial numbers ,as I said I tries to render with "Vegas 23 Steam Edition" on my old laptop that had "Vegas 21 pirate version" ,It can render without any problem in the video that I upload ,my final guess is there are something wrong about my hardware that incompatible with Vegas 23 ,guess only DEV can answer how this problems happens.

My old laptop spec :
Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-9300H CPU @ 2.40GHz
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050

I noticed that you're using the Intel QSV renderer in your new laptop and the normal H.264 renderer in your older one.

Have you tried using the normal CPU rendering option or the NVENC (aka GPU assisted) options?

If any of these work, it may be that iGPU rendering is having issues

I have tried all of 3 method none of them work. But good new I know the exactly problem is when you try to render your video first time Vegas have to activated Codec for your render but in my case ,I can't activated the Codec once because every time I want to render it will not responding for second and get "an online connection could not be established" I told my friend to capture his Codec installation and yeah he was able to activated it. So I guess this is about Codec problem ?

So don't blame me for this okay ? I have download Pirate version of Vegas pro 23 for the test and before that, I had factory reset my laptop 1 time before install this thing, guess what ? it can render video without activating codec and without any problem the video just look fine, so I guess all problem is about activating codec method.

Can DEV do something about this ? next patch maybe ? from this situation guess I have to use pirate version until they can fix this problem :(

But why did you feel the need to download and use a pirate version? Vegas offer free trials.

@Thanathip-Prajuabmool Your illegal pirate version is probably getting around unlocking codecs so licensing fees aren't being paid.

Anyway users of pirate versions are not welcome here and don't get support. So please stop wasting our time.

I wonder if you need VPN in your new laptop for codec activation, can it work?

@EricLNZ as you can see in my video I have "The Legal version on my steam account" but I cannot render my project because every time I'm trying to render it will get not responding during codec activation and yes, I'm not proud of using this program in illegal way and why would I want to use it if I have the legal one ? so If you understand how is it feel to paid for some thing that you can't use it.

@Thanathip-Prajuabmool, I think there are two issues here,

-Not many on the forum use Steam's VP and can help you. you might try at Steam.

- Part of the problem with pirate VP is that no one here know what kind of leftovers it keep on one system

If I understand this, you subsequently installed a pirated copy on your new laptop?

If so, I think you might be missing the point or nuances of some of the replies.

Again, perhaps it is possible that there are some hacked codecs left over which might explain the issue. Updating to a legitmate copy on Vegas will not necessarily correct it.

If it were me I would bare-metal the machine, start anew, and call it a day.

Maybe support can help, but you are accountable for fixing it.

Support is expensive and many are critical of their response times. And they probably have enough to catch-up on without stuff like this.
