I've noticed this also just during the last week . It happened right after some Vista updates. I'm running Vista Ultimate x64 and Vegas 8P only does this randomly. When it does, I just run Vegas again and it's fine. The most recent Vista updates appear to have something to do with preparing everyone's systems for the installation of Vista Service Pack 1, so they may have fouled up something with Vegas by accident.

Ok I found a solution, from desktop I launched the Vista DVD and selected Vista Upgrade, it's a new install of Vista without touching your personal files, it took few hours, after that everything was in the right place, my docs, my files, my desktop, all my installed software, everything the same and now Vegas just works ! I suggest this solution to everybody becouse making this upgrade absolutely do not delete andy file from your computer but the OS, replacing it with a fresh new copy.
