This is just a guess. Does juicer 3 utilise audio at all? - I've found my v8 to be very ungraceful (read crash) if something else tries to take control of the ASIO away from it. Once I worked that out, I changed it's audio behaviour, and it's been fine since.

Kenny, just curious, what did you do to change the audio behavior? Thanks.

I'm using a multitude of audio devices and also settings...

So some apps run ASIO, some DirectX. Most are set to release control when not in focus. It depends on what I am doing, as to what has "master" control as it were.

Vegas was running DirectX Full Duplex before, but with the projects I am currently working on, I need to give that driver to something else, and another app is sharing ASIO. It gets a little weird as different projects require different configurations and so I have to chop and change.

So I hope that sort-of answers the question..

Yes it does, but if I am in Vegas and even switch to this forum it crashes

I've a Vegas apologist back from version 4, but I have to say that this new version has introduced major bugs into HDV editing - specifically the rendering. I just completed a major project that was shot in HDV 1080i (24P) using Sony V1U's. When it was all done I went to render and it crashed no matter how I tried to render it out. Sometimes it would actually complete the render but the finished render would have random black frames, pauses, or other weird issues. It wasn't until 4:30am - 6 hours before airtime that I finally got an OK version put to tape by exporting to 720P. No idea why that worked but it did. It was probably the 50th time I tried to render it out (and I tried every format possible).

I've contacted Sony Support and thus far they have been extremely unhelpful. I love Vegas but the upgrade to 8 has caused me nothing but headaches so far.

Oh yeah - there is also a major memory-handling problem with the new version as well. When I do renders in Vegas 7 I'll drop the RAM amount allotted to Vegas down to like 128 so I can work on other things and have never had a problem with it. When I render in Vegas 8 it sucks up over 1 gig of RAM no matter what my RAM allottment setting is and makes the machine very difficult to use for other purposes.

Pull up your task manager and look at your PF Usage. I wouldn't be surprised if it is a memory problem. Sony has told me they are working on it and hope to get it fixed in a new update. For more information look for a thread called "Vegas 8a crash report to Sony can u duplicate?" or do a search on Pastor Dave.

Praying they get it fixed soon,
David
