Vegas Pro 9.0c. 32 vs 64 bit.

Hi

Just a thought I had regarding the two version of Vegas. In my limited experience it seems to be that the 64-bit Vegas have far fewer stability issues than the 32-bit version does.

Or am I wrong?

I am aware that there are people that are stuck on 32-bit due to plug-ins and third part products they rely on, that are not available on 64-bit, yet. And there are probably some that never will be.

When I ran on XP I was frustrated, I couldn't do anything without Vegas crashing on me, typically with memory issues. On 64-bit I have yet to see that error once. I had a few other issues early on, but they were all solved once I told my power management to stay away from my hard drives.

So in short, are the 64-bit version of 9.0c that much more stable than the 32-bit, or am I merely being lucky?

Also, are anyone else thinking that Vegas Pro 10 might be exclusively 64-bit? Considering that video editing does require a tremendous amount of memory to handle HD, it seems clear to me that the 3.5GB memory limit we have on 32-bit windows is just too big a bottleneck for any future development to be feasible there, at least with regards to HD, and especially when we double the bandwidth and memory requirements with the advent of 3D.

Not for me. 64 bit version of 9.0c has known problems when mixing jpgs or png on the timeline with AVCHD or, for me, even SD. I am using 9.0b 64 bit which does not run the AVCHD as well as 9.0c --- so 9.0c 32 bit is the most stable for me.

64bit doesn't have memory issues, but has a plethora of other issues. Both versions have stability issues. Just with different things.

I bumped my current project from 8c to 9c/32 to 9c/64 and they all have issues.

My project is 720p/30 with a 14 hour mixture of of 720 DVCPRO-HD and 1080 Cineform source media.

8c Wouldn't let me cut-n-paste clip events, while 9/32 would allow that but crash every once in a while, and 9/64 does it okay so far.
