Vegas Pro 9 rendering larger files w/same settings

Consider this: In Vegas Pro 8, I've been consistently rendering 20-21 minute movies with the same (MainConcept codec) MPEG-2 output setting: 6000 kbps for video, 224 kbps for audio. Average file size, every time, is ~682 MB.

Now after installing Vegas Pro 9, rendering with the same setting and codec, file sizes are consistently coming out 830 MB.

What happened? And is there a way Vegas Pro can predict a filesize before I hit the GO RENDER button?

Thx,

Bitrate x Time = File Size

Are you saying that Vegas 9 misreports the render bitrate?
Use MediaInfo to compare your rendered video bitrates and report back.

Or are you using different audio settings, such as uncompressed PCM or 5.1? That would easily account for the difference you see.

I think Vegas Pro 9 is reporting accurately. I also concede that if I render a 21.5 minute MPEG-2 at 6000 kbps (for video), the size should roughly come out 967 MB (6000 * 60 * 21.5 / 8). However, my Win 7 NTFS is reporting in its bottom bar that 6224 kbps-rendered movies for 20-21 mins are about 680 MB while my rendering today (went from Vista 32-bit to Win7 64-bit and from Vegas Pro 8 to 9) is now on par with the filesize I get in my calculator (~830 MB). Just odd...
