Vegas Pro 9c doesn't like MPEG

I just installed V9 on my new computer and for some reason it won't let me import mpeg files. It hangs up and I have to control+alt+delete to get out of the program. Am I missing some kind of mpeg decoder or codec?

I can use V9 on my other computer that is running Vista, but for some reason the new computer just doesn't like them. I do have DVD A on this computer and Production Assistant. They will play in Windows Media player, but I can't get them on to a timeline.
