At version 11, why is Sony not integrating DVD Architect into Vegas so that we can switch to DVD Architect from within Vegas and vice versa and make it a seamless integration so that we don't have to render before switching?
I agree with you. However, I just mean something similar to adobe dynamic link.. I mean no rendering before moving to DVDA. That's what I think anyway. And this might save some rendering time in a tight deadline environment.
If you render from Vegas to the DVDA templates, then no re-rendering has to occur in DVDA. I agree that it takes a little time to go between the applications, but even on deadline I don't find it to be excessive.
Conversely, if you don't render in Vegas to something that DVDA can use, then DVDA will have to encode anyway.
I think the expectation comes from the fact that with something like Vegas->CD or SoundForge->CD burning the necessary conversions and rendering can be done on the fly while burning because the process is just that fast (i can remember when it wasn't!). It's unlikely we'll ever get to the point where the necessary DVD encoding and preparation will happen that fast, at least while DVDs are still a viable medium.
I'll agree that it can appear clunky that it's a separate process, but i don't think the clunkiness value is anything to fret over compared to all the time and effort already involved in video editing, rendering, and DVD authoring, preparation, and burning. Compared to all the rest of the steps, moving from Vegas to DVDA is just a tiny, near ignorable blip.
I am so glad to get to the end of my video editing that the export from Vegas and authoring in DVDA are a welcome change. Dynamic link may be slightly quicker and give you slightly less to do, but the difference would be minute compared to the total time on the project.
