Vegas Pro constantly crashing for any version

Radeon wrote on 4/9/2019, 3:50 PM

Any version of Vegas Pro crashes within 1 minute of running. Even when i don't touch anything or do stuff. I have installed Vegas 12, 13, 14, 15, and 16 and everything crashes. I have disabled GPU rendering, disabled multicore rendering, disabled the So2 thing, nothing works. I really want to edit but i cant do anything and i have tried to put up with it but its so damn annoying having to reload Vegas every 1 minute. I really need help as i want to make good YouTube videos but i cant. I have basically tried everything and i cant think of what happened. I got my new PC last summer and Vegas worked until 2019 and now it doesn't work. I have done several re-installs of each version. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks so much!

that has nothing to do with it, because those things you can only choose when you want to render something on your timeline(s).

You did not give any information what sourcefiles you use, which projectsettings you use, what your hardware specs are and what you want to export to, but only you want to make a YT video.
Therefore nobody here can help you at this userforum.

If everything was working on your New PC until 2019, can you roll back the system (system restore) to a date when things were working?

xberk i think i might do it, because i knew i could do it but i didnt really want to as i have alot of important stuff, and backing up might take a long time. i feel like it is the only option now, so im probably going to do it.

See my hardware specs at my signature.
No problems at all with all those Vegas installations you tried.
Windows 10 with the latest updates and on laptop only for the Nvidia GTX 1050 the driverversion 399,24 as not being the latest.

I gave you the specs of my used hardware without any problem using there Vegas 10,12,13,14,15 and 16.
Before that I had asked you not only to give the specs of your hardware but also " sourcefiles you use, which projectsettings you use and what you want to export to" on which you gave no aswer, so I cannot help you any further.
Did you try the proposal of @xberk ?

I'm saying you may wish to do a Windows Restore if you have a restore point that will reset your system back to the date when things were working well. If you have never done it, I suggest you find someone to help you who has.

The infamous Windows 10 april 2018 update ruined quite a few things on my workstation, Vegas would suddenly crash when switching monitors and Hitfilm wouldn't even open anymore. I since avoid that update like the plague, it could be the cause of your issues.

One method I know that usually fixes any problems with Vegas is to create a new user on Windows, then install and use Vegas on that user. It's not the most ideal, but it could be better than doing a system restore if you don't want to lose any data.

Also, if you could tell us what build of Windows you're on, that may be helpful.

More likely the Support gives you first just complete useless Copy&Paste answers. After complaining how useless it is, they then switch just to other languages. After complaing about that, they just go back to the Copy&Paste method in the correct language and literally just give you the method you did and you described you did...

You really need to work on the Support, it is quiet horrible.

Interestingly the review of version 16 in May edition of Computer Shopper (three stars out of Five) highlights Quote "It also appears to be less stable than previous versions."

(Intel 3rd gen i5@4.1GHz, 32GB RAM, SSD, 1080Ti GPU, Windows 10) Not now used with Vegas.

13th gen i913900K - water cooled, 96GB RAM, 4TB M2 drive, 4TB games SSD, 2TB video SSD, GPU RTX 4080 Super, Windows 11 pro

fr0sty wrote on 4/14/2019, 12:59 AM

It's been stable enough for me to run my business off of it exclusively for the past year. A few headaches from time to time, but it works. Even though I still have both 15 and 14 installed, I have never had to revert back to them to finish a project, or any other NLE for that matter, so I can't say I agree with their findings.

Agree. I rarely have issues with Vegas crashing and that's one of the reasons I like it. I helped this guy do a 90 minute autobiography and he had over 300 photos, a couple of videos, multiple audio tracks, titles, text, and music, and Vegas did not crash once. We kept saving early and often too, but it was all fine. I will never forget the first time I tried using Red Giant's Film Looks in Adobe Premiere and I was completely psych'd about how things were looking, but before we could even get the first effect applied, the whole program crashed, and crashed hard, requiring a hard reset, and I just gave up after it happened a second time. That's why going forward, program stability remains a priority.
