Vegas pro crashes

Everytime I try to edit preview or even render a video I'm greeted with a message saying, "An error has occurred" followed by saying they cannot determine the problem. What do I do to fix this?

That's pretty vague. What version of Vegas?

If the program simply doesn't work at all (edit, preview and render is just about everything) try reinstalling and resetting Vegas.

This is version Vegas Pro 20.0 It works only on occasion.
