Vegas Pro Design Suggestions

Don't get me wrong, I've tried many NLEs and I love Sony Vegas Pro.

I think that Sony could improve Vegas with a couple of changes. These are not the only issues but something to get ideas flowing. For example,

1. In the Event Pan/Crop, the Scale function needs more range to accommodate Megapixel images. 12-MP digital stills work the Scale function right at its limit.

2. In the MediaFX section, if a Preset is selected, that name should remain there all during the editing process. it's cool to keep the arithmetic values, but the names are far more familiar. All those Presets should also be editable.

3. In Rendering, the output video quality should be more obvious and presets should be retained.

4. I wish the contents of the Project Media could be categorized then saved for later recall.

5. Sony's biggest weakness is their titling. Let me do more free-form titling. The Pro Titler is a joke. Think outside the box.

There are other issues and I'll present them as they are encountered.

I give Sony and solid 9.5 for Vegas Pro.

I'm waiting to see of Vegas Pro 9 will be around any time soon.

Respectfully,

Jack

I have wished for 'sticky' preset names (#2 in your post) myself. This offers a touch more confidence that the settings I need are still in place. Maybe I'm just spoiled coming from SONAR. In SONAR the preset names stick, and there is a 'dirty' indicator to show when current settings have been modified since I chose a given preset.

...nice suggestion, and welcome to the forum.

I'd like to be able to search for a missing file from within a project, not just when it opens. If I open an older project and a media file is missing, I'd like to see if I really need it in the project before spending time looking for it.
