Vegas Pro Edit 14 build 211 crashes everytime I attempt to stabilize

dale-ferrier wrote on 2/17/2017, 5:33 PM

I have 4k footage all shot the same frame rate from a Sony AX53 and everything has been fine except now every time I attempt to stabilize the footage using the standard Vegas Stabilize fx the software crashes.

I have tried turning off GPU rendering but still the same behavior.

Does the upgraded stabilize work better in Vegas Pro?

Has anyone else run into this? Any workarounds?

Do you stabilize in the proper way using this FX on the (subclip) Media event?

I ran into the same problem with some 4k clips from my Panasonic FZ300, stabilizing with Vegas stabilizer in VegasPro 14. I had this problem also already in VegasPro 13 with the use of the Mercalli 2 plugin and also with the Vegas stabilizer. I don't have the problem with VegasPro 14 when I use the Mercalli 4 plugin. Since the Vegas stabilizer is based on Mercalli 2, I think that this is a bug in Mercalli 2. The strange thing is that not all 4k clips lead to a crash.

A workaround I found: (Batch) render those 4k clips, which causes crashes, with this XAVC rendertemplate.

and use those rendered files for stabilizing, they don't cause the crash.
