I'm editing a large video in Vegas Pro Edit 21 (Steam Edition). It involves around 9 different cameras angles, ranging from GoPros to dashcams. (It's a halloween tradition we do in our house every year for the local kids and I work with the camera angles I have to make a cute video to share with close family and friends)
And I normally make these videos in two parts.
Part one is to align all of the camera angles in the Vegas Pro timeline so I can cut between them. And once I've synced it up and chosen which angles will be used, I render that entire thing into a video file.
Then, for part two, I take that video file and drag it into a new project and that's where I can edit things down further remove the parts where nothing happens, add music, text, etc.
Currently I'm trying to render part one so I can move onto part two. But the render always either gets stuck, or my system runs out of memory. (My full computer specs are below) And I feel like I've tried everything at this point. Including:
Changing the GPU acceleration from my dedicated GPU to my CPU's integrated graphics, as well as off completely.
Setting the dynamic allocated memory to all sorts of values ranging from 0 to 25%.
Changing one of the "internal" settings as instructed by .
Changing the rendering format.
Closing all other applications on my computer.
Probably a few other things that I've forgotten at this point.
I used to run Vegas Pro 18 Edit (Also Steam edition) and never had this kind of problem, even when working with large videos.
VP21 doesn't give an error or bug report option, instead all of my monitors (4 including the laptop screen, two of which 1080p, 60hz, one of which 1366x768, 60hz, and the laptop screen which is 2560x1600@165hz) flash black momentarily, before returning to normal, revealing a frozen and non-responsive Vegas Pro which has gotten stuck during the render at some arbitrary percentage.
There is no text on the video, and the only video effects I have applied is a brightness & contrast boost to one of the GoPro HERO4 clips for which I forgot to correctly set the exposure before recording. Some clips have crop and panning set, but this doesn't seem to be making a difference as it seems to render those just fine.
My system is as follows:
Framework Laptop 16
16GB DDR5 RAM
AMD Ryzen 9 7940HS (Which has Radeon 780M integrated graphics)
AMD Radeon RX 7700S (8GB VRAM)
Windows 11 Pro 23H2
