Vegas Pro Suite 22 Change Languages

JulioAZ wrote on 8/29/2025, 11:38 AM

When I purchased, I wasn't aware of this language requirement. Even though Portuguese is my native language, I seem completely lost, even with simple edits (effects, transitions, options and features...). Unfortunately, after purchasing, I was working on external recordings and was unable to see and resolve these issues in time with the sales department, or support to return the software and purchase the English version.

I tried contacting support. I asked about a future upgrade to the English version or some other option, and they simply reiterated:

"The serial number is region-locked to the specific localized version of the software purchased and cannot be used to switch between different language versions."

Has anyone experienced this and know if I can change the language in the future with an update (like Vegas Pro 23)? I wouldn't like to, but is there any alternative (other than ULangID, which doesn't work) to change the language?

I ended up investing in software that will be less agile/productive than the old version I have (VEGAS Pro 15 Edit Steam)... error anguish here. :/

My understanding is that you can choose the languaje at the moment of installation. I'm from a country where English is not the official languaje but I can choose English when installing VEGAS Pro.

However I don't know if this is not true for all countries where VEGAS Pro is sold.

Have you tried reinstalling the software?

For purchases made on the website https://www.vegascreativesoftware.com/br/vegas-pro, you cannot change the language during installation. Therefore, you are required to use Portuguese. If you choose the English version, the software will not activate.
What i should have done is purchase from the website https://www.vegascreativesoftware.com/us/vegas-pro to get the English version of Vegas Pro, but I wasn't aware of this until I was blocked from activating the software.

So the question is... if I can't change the language (like in the trial version, which I tested before purchasing), it would be interesting to know if I can change the language to English in a future software upgrade. Or if I can somehow force the software to be in English.

It's a simple thing, but the way it is, it disrupts the entire editing process I'm already used to.

Thanks for the clarification. That is a very strange decision on Magix's part. I hope they can give you a better solution than waiting for an upgrade.

The reason why you are locked to your language is because of the price that Vegas was sold for in Brazil. Most likely less than it is sold in Europe or America, where you can change the language.

As far as concerning upgrading in the future (VP23 is in the works), you would have to contact sales to see what price they will offer you. Yes, it is US sales, but maybe they can point you in the right direction for upgrading to a more "universal" language version. And it will probably cost you more than doing the Portuguese upgrade.

@Reyfox I really didn't know about the language restrictions. So much so that before purchasing Vegas Pro Suite 22, I downloaded and used the trial version from the Brazilian sales website and changed the language without any problems. I thought I wouldn't have any problems. I only understood when I tried to activate it with the English installation and in the purchase email. So, a clear explanation was not provided at the time of purchase, because if I had known in advance (even if it was more expensive), I would have purchased the English version (from the US website).

Anyway, I'll try one last contact with sales to see if I can get any answers abaout future upgrade or solutions.

Tnx Dude!

@Reyfox  sales responded in this way:

It wasn't clear enough for me... but apparently I can't even upgrade to the English version. So, if I want the English version, I'll have to buy the software again.

Anyway... for an average Brazilian, paying half the country's minimum wage for software is a significant investment. Because of this, most don't follow the legal path... being honest and getting superficial answers from the company, as they did for a simple language issue... is tough.
A warning/attention to anyone who is going to buy.. about this lack of information on the website at the time of purchase on record for future buyers.

Can you ask them if a Portuguese serial can get the upgrade price for the English US version?

I assume most Brazilians would use it in Portuguese so wouldn't be an issue for most.

Ironically, after posting in your thread the same thing has happened to me buying from Spain. I explained it here: https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/spanish-vegas-website-now-selling-spanish-only-version-of-vegas-pro--149572/..

I was able to contact Magix in time, and they have replied quickly. They have already cancelled the order and now I'm waiting for a refund.

I agree this should be made clearer in their website, specially considering that this was not how things worked in previous years.

The biggest problem was not having this information clearly stated at the time of purchase. In the trial version, there's no problem switching to any language.
I asked about the update twice and the answer was the same:

"We are not able to switch different localized or region locked versions of VEGAS out for other localized or region locked versions. "

So I consider, even if it is not clear in their answers, that the update is not possible... because even the update is regionally blocked.

Unfortunately, I didn't have time. It was a language issue that cost a lot of money for nothing (the English version cost about the same), and the company doesn't care about any good solutions on this matter.

I'll have to continue using the software as is until I decide to migrate to another software or make a new purchase in the future...

@JulioAZ dirty trick allowing English in the trial, but not allowing activation. If that really happened, Magix should make it right!
