Wasn't Liquid originally developed by a Sonic Foundry-like company in Germany?
It's the same team. The first iteration was called FAST.

It was called Video Machine by german company Fast Electronics.
Wonderful software - well wonderful because I cut my editing teeth on it, back in 1992.

Looking for replacemet, I downloaded trial versions of
Fast Liquid and Vegas 4.
The Liquid - GUI was bewildering, even with a friend providing telephone support, I could not get started.
Vegas 4 , I found it intuitive and easy to load and use. Only problem I had was, finding the razor / split key.

I am not sure I like the following trend
Vegas 6: double click and it loads in 5 seconds. Second instance loads in 3 seconds.( No media manager)

Vegas PRO 8: double click and it loads in 36 seconds. Second instance loads in 12 seconds. (No media manager)

Still I love my Vegas 8 for it's multicam - I used Excalibur before.
