Vegas pro V22 (build 250) GPU Acceleration

MartinH wrote on 8/19/2025, 3:35 PM

Hi Everyone,

I am having an issue getting Vegas to use my Nvidia RTX A3000 GPU.

I cannot enable it in preferences. I have tried with and without the deprecated legacy GPU in preferences but it does not show up in the project properties, preference video or file I/O tabs.

If I go to render then it says NVENC as option (I also have QSV) but when I select it It really does not improve performance. QSV works better but not as great I as I would expect.

Does anyone know why the GPU are not showing up in Preferences or Project Properties?

I have upgraded the driver to the latest version and tried various setting for the GPU in the Nvidia control panel.

If anyone has any ideas then that would be great.

Many thanks

Does Windows graphics settings have VEGAS using the high performance GPU (if there are two?) Otherwise not sure why it isn't being found (there is no GPU under preferences/video)?

If NVENC is slower than expected it could be that it's waiting on frames to be sent to it.

There is a log file that will tell you what Vegas finds when it checks your GPU options, it will say if it can or cannot use your GPU. It can be found here:
C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\VEGAS Pro\22.0\gpu_video_x64.log (if your version is V22.0, if not it will be V??.0) As it is a log file it can be opened with notepad, it is a long file so you will need to scroll down the lines to find the GPU data.

many thanks for the reply. I added Vegas pro under the windows grahpics options but it still does not show up.

In the gpu_video_x64.log it does suggest it has found the GPU's:-

A rest did not work either.

Vegas says a driver update maybe needed can you check with Nvidia for the RTX A3000 series

If you download the Nvidia app it will find the driver for you.

Since this is a laptop is there an OEM driver you can install? Use DDUninstaller and get rid of all traces of the NVIDIA driver and then install the computer maker customized version.

MartinH wrote on 8/20/2025, 3:38 PM

Hi again, I tried the DDU app to remove the drivers and then installed the laptop version but it still generates the exception and the GPU is not detected by Vegas.

thanks for your help so far

This may be one for VEGAS support. Do link to this thread and share your findings so far.

Many thanks - I have done that now.

Thanks everyone for trying
