Vegas Pro vs Vegas Movie Studio -

Hi friends,

Looking around in the forum, I must ask: is Vegas Movie Studio actually more stable and leass "crashy" than Vegas Pro? I find much less complaints about it, I guess also because there are less features to go wrong maybe.

Or is it just much fewer users? Which I don't think...

What do you say?

I've never used Movie Studio, but for the most part on my computer and what I edit, I find VP very stable.

As with most forums, especially those with "PRO" level programs you find people doing complex and advanced things. You also find that a percentage of people here don't understand how the mixture of machines and software functions, and have never read the complete manual or learned how to do an internet search. And yes sometimes there are bugs deep within the complex functions of the "PRO" level programs. I used movie studio for lot of years before I made the move to VP when it was sold to Magix. Vegas is one of the most powerful and easy to use programs, however it is not perfect but most crashes are ignorance or what is often called "pilot error":).

I'm using both.
For simple not too long video editing Movie Studio Pl is more than enough.
When I have to use more than 4 tracks for longer time video I like to use Vegas Pro with "nested" vegs and scripting, those options are not available in VMS.
Stability issues, if they occur, are the same in both programs.

What would that be? :) As an example I mean.

In my experience, the only crashes happens when the GPU acceleration is on. When off, I am a good pilot it seems.

Well, to me it seems the Movie Studio is not only very capable compared to other video editors in its price range, but also even compared to Pro has some merits. Lighter, simpler, faster - as I red somewhere. I am not sure how it would handle (if different at all) working with my system (i7-8750h, 16gb ram, 1050ti) which seems to be in a love-hate relation with Vegas Pro. Rendering time is great, editing is moody at times. And all only when GPU is on.
