Vegas splitting m2t files

Hi Folks

I'm doing my first project capturing and editing native m2t files. I'm capturing form a Z1 to Vegas 7e using Vegas' own capture utility. Scene detection is switched off. But the file is being split with no logic behind the split - sometimes it's in the same scene - I don't think it's the file size - some are a few 100mb others are 6gb+. This wouldn't be a problem in itself but when I butt the files together in the timeline there is a jump at the join.

Any ideas?
Thank You.

Ian

Hi Ian, You're running into the problems of temporal compression of HDV.

If you have "quick rec" set on your Z1 then this can cause a break in timecode that might cause your problem. Just a thought.

HDV capture in Vegas seems to be very problematic and many, including me, are using the free HDVsplit program to capture. Perhaps you could try that.
