Vegas start-up screen hangs

Beachnut wrote on 9/23/2005, 10:38 AM
Every so often when I start Vegas 6b the orange start-up box just hangs there. I have to click Start, Turn Off Computer, and click Restart which seems to nudge Vegas back on track and the box disappears and Vegas opens. The same always happens if I want to open Vegas twice (so copy say a title from one file to another - is there another way?). Any idea's what might be causing these hang-ups? I'm on XP Home with 512MB RAM. Thanks.

Do you have MediaManager running, may be the culprit, update available , maybe that will help.

I did have Media Manager running. I just disabled it, closed Vegas, then restarted Vegas, and hey... the organe box just hangs there ! Damn it.

After starting Vegas check to see if wowexec.exe is running under processes using task manager (CTRL-ALT-DEL). If it is there then check your WINDOWS\SYSTEM32 folder for the file TWAIN.DLL (in all caps as typed here). twain.dll should be there but not the all caps version. If the all caps version is there then replace it with the small letter version found in your WINDOWS\SYSTEM folder.

P.S. - You may want to just rename TWAIN.DLL to TWAIN.DLL.SAV instead of overwriting it so you can put things back the way they were if needed for some reason.
