There have been several posts on the subject of Vegas hanging at the splash screen, and I have experienced this myself in the past. I found the solution then was to upgrade to the latest Catalyst driver, and installed latest version of DirectX. Now, the hang at start up has suddenly returned, but at a later stage, and the previous remedy does not work.
To summarise, the initialization reaches the final stage, which is creation of windows. At this point a plain white Vegas workspace appears with blank frames, and the splash screen remains. The program is "not responding" and has to be closed.
I have tried reinstalling to no avail. I have uninstalled the program, then created a new test account, and installed the program there. In the new account, the program initialization completes, and the problem is solved for that account. It also load normally in a separate administraotor account. However, the problem persists in my user account.
This seems to point to a problem with my user account. Does anybody have any idea what this problem could be?
